threesixfive, week 15

hello all! we had a great week.
i'll let the pictures do the talking.

sunday
happy resurrection day! the first pic is the obligatory "you have new outfits, please pose sweetly in them". the second was the highlight for our family on this day. colby was baptized by allen and my dad in front of our friends and family at church sunday morning! what a sweet celebration.

monday
i went in to give molly a kiss before allen and i went to bed, and this is how i found her.

tuesday
ok, so this was taken last weekend, but its the cutest picture i have of my new haircut, so this is the one i decided to share with you. I've had moments of 'oh no, what have i done?!?' but i really do like it.

wednesday
mom took the kids and i to dinner before church tonight. molly arm wrestled grammie while they waited for the food.

thursday
I've been spending some quality time with these beauties lately. i'm doing my first 5K next saturday, and met a friend this evening to train. we did 3.15 miles in about 38 minutes. not too shabby.

friday
my parents closest friends got together for a going away party. everyone played 5 rounds of 21 and the 3 people with the highest scores got to pick a prize. i was a loser. as far as the going away party; dad took a job at a new church up in rowlett (about 3 hours north) and will be leaving our church on may 6th after 17 years. its gonna be tough not having them here all the time. :-/

saturday
there was an event at the church for the kids this morning. colby worked hard to help his team win the tug o' war.

have a blessed weekend!

threesixfive, week 14

i hope you had a blessed Resurrection Day with your family!
we had a fun and exciting week; lots of little extras going on.
i'll get right to pictures...

sunday
a methodist church about half an hour away did a thing called Journey to the Cross on sunday afternoon. its a guided tour through the important events in the life of Jesus. it was a cool way to head into Easter week.

monday
i finally made something with my sewing machine!!! they're just tea towels, but still. yay me!

tuesday
i confess to this picture not being taken tuesday, but i didn't have another one! my kids and their silly socks (this is what they wore to church wednesday night).

wednesday
allen gave me tickets to Straight No Chaser for Christmas, and the concert was (finally) wednesday night!! they were so so good! we had a great time!

thursday
on of the girls that graduated out of our youth ministry several years ago bought her first house a couple weeks back, and invited us to come see it. she's very musical and molly loved this pink ukulele brittany had in her adorable new home.

friday
allen and i had a wedding rehearsal to go to, but the dinner reservation was much later than we anticipated, so we left after the rehearsal and stopped at this food trailer in austin on the way home. delicious!

saturday
allen officiated a wedding at a beautiful country club in austin. the wedding was on the veranda overlooking the 18th hole on the golf course. i loved the colors this bride chose for her wedding. it was all gorgeous.

on a side note, this is the results (partly) of something else i did this weekend. :-) you're looking at roughly ten and a half inches of my hair, which i was able to donate to locks of love after my hairdresser chopped it off! i'll post a picture of the 'new do' with next weeks 365. i love it.

threesixfive, week 13

heres my week 13 entry a day late.
i had to take my new computer in for a data transfer on friday. i thought it would be a short 'out-patient surgery', so to speak, but i had to leave it for a couple days. had i known that, i would have planned better and not been without it over the weekend, keeping me from posting on time, but a day late is better than not at all i suppose.
the weather has been beautiful, and we spent quite a bit of time outside this week. i'm sure we'll try to soak up as much as we can before it gets so hot that we start melting if we stay out too long!!

sunday
we had a church wide picnic at the county park sunday afternoon. there was a great turnout, and the kids spent 3 hours sufficiently wearing themselves out in the heat.

monday
my new favorite snack!! dear fresh mangos, where have you been all my life??

tuesday
killing time in the car, waiting to drop colby off at art school.

wednesday
i started reading this book saturday, and oh. my. goodness. its wonderful!! i highly recommend it, but a word of warning; prepare to be convicted to the core.

thursday
mollys reading very basic books, although she has no problem making up her own story if she can't sound out the words in the book she picks. she was "reading" to colby.

friday
allen surprised me with a new computer when i got back from east texas a couple weeks ago. i looove it!! its so much faster than our old one. i took it in friday to have the data transferred onto it from our old hard drive, and had to leave it for the weekend. :-(

saturday
molly climbed up in this tree at the park to pose for a picture. she panicked when it was time to get down.

hope you're having a great week! we're going wednesday night to a Straight No Chaser concert. allen gave me tickets back at christmas, and its finally here! then we have a wedding this weekend, followed by Easter. hopefully that means some great pictures next week!! :-)

over the river and thru the woods.....

to grandmas house we go!!we got back a week ago from a 5 day trip to my grandmas house in mt. pleasant, tx.my mom, myself, and colby and molly loaded up friday morning and leisurely made our way up there. my grandmas sister-in-law (widowed) lives there as well as a niece, nephew, and several of theirkids...and their kids' kids; not to mention numerous cousins. you get the idea.
my grandmas brother started inventing ranch equipment in his garage in about, oh i don't know, the early 60's, and over the years, its grown into this huge global company that his oldest son bill
runs.
my point in sharing all that is to say that so much of my extended family lives out there, and they all have ranches and land and animals. its very different from what I'm used to here in the austin suburbs. its country, and its beautiful, and i love visiting.
it was my first time back since grandpas funeral in january, and grandma welcomed a houseful for
the time we were there. we explored the ranch (she lives on bill's land in a house he built for her and grandpa when they moved there from dallas 6 years ago), played in the creek, drove the tractor, and got dirty, among other things.
colby and molly loved the experience. its one I'mhoping they'll get to build on as they get older.
here are some pictures from our stay.

uncle irv (one of grandmas brothers) drove the...tractor?? (insert joke about me being a city girl) over saturday afternoon, and let the kids drive it around in the field in front of grandmas house. they loved it.

we spent an afternoon at daingerfield state park (a beautiful place to spend a weekend camping!!). we rented a peddle boat and went hiking...and i use that term very loosely.

threesixfive, week 12

it was kind of a weird, off-week. the kids and i got back from east texas late tuesday afternoon, and wednesday, although i had intentions of getting right back into our routine, ended up being a lazy pajama day, except when we had to get dressedto take molly to dance.
the rest of the week just passed without us getting much of anything done. so next week we'll start fresh on monday. its weeks like this I'm so glad we homeschool.

sunday
my precious grandma with colby and molly

monday
colby and molly were playing game where they were asked a question and if they got it right they got to take a step up. the first one up to the porch won. they played that with my mom several times. but seriously, check out the view from my grandmas back porch. beautiful!

tuesday
we said goodbye to grandma and general lee, her sweet dog that keeps her company.

wednesday
molly got her recital costume in dance class today, so of course we had to try it on when we got home!

thursday
we went to see/hear price hill, some friends of ours and the band that we are fortunate enough to have lead worship for our youth group every wednesday (when they're not on the road). aaron, the bass player, whipped out a banjo for one of their songs. how can you not love a banjo?

friday
bluebonnet pictures. :-) the wildflowers are stunning this year, but unfortunately my kids, at least on friday, were not. they were super into running around in the field of flowers, but not at all into having their picture taken.
aren't the flowers beautiful??

this was really the only good one of them i came away with.

saturday
we went to a birthday party this morning for one of mollys best buds, ramona. happy birthday sweet girl!!

we'll have a guest all week as we host the speaker for spiritual emphasis week at the academy. he's one of allens best friends, so it'll be great having him here.
other than that it should be a pretty standard week.
be blessed!!

threesixfive, week 11

hello all! sorry I'm getting this posted so late. :-/
we were in east texas visiting my grandma when thi
s would've posted, and i thought i could get it
done yesterday, but having been gone for a we
ek, there was quite a bit to catch up on, so this fell to the bottom of the list.
here are the pictures from last week.

sunday
our birds are back! i'm sure there will be baby birdies soon enough. and all the poop that comes with them.

monday
i had a hankering for soft serve, so we drove thru mcdonalds monday afternoon.

tuesday
i started this book late sunday night and finished it today! can't wait to read the rest of them and see the movie!!!

wednesday
alleys brother and his wife and daughter came from ca
nada for a visit, so we went to houston for a couple
days to see them. mimi took us to build-a-bear (a first for my kiddos) to celebrate the occasion; we only see them about every other year.

thursday
colby, molly, and their cousin riley got up early thursd
ay morning and helped mimi set up a beautiful breakfast for us out on the back patio. it was a great morning to sit outside and eat and visit with the family before we had to head back home.

friday
my mom and i along with the kids headed to east texas (mt pleasant) to spend 4 days with my grandma. its the first time id been back since grandpa died in december.

saturday
a lot of my dads side of the family is out there where grandma lives and they all have mass quantities of land with cows and horses, creeks and ponds, 4-wheelers, tractors, etc. its a complete 180 from the city life we're used to. saturday we took it easy and explored. molly and colby (and grammie) had fun throwing rocks in the creek.

i'll probably post about our trip to grandmas in its entirety. there are too many pictures to pick just one from each day.
have a great week!! well, whats left of it.
