threesixfive, week 19

its been a really really fun week. 

i had a camera fiasco over the weekend, so i'm missing a picture for sunday.

it started saturday when my camera told me the memory card was full. i didnt think it was, but just to be sure, i deleted about 100 pictures off of it. it still kept saying full, and eventually stopped turning on altogether.

sunday afternoon i took it to best buy (bless my husband for paying for the 1 year warranty!!) and they gave me a brand new camera (same model), which i brought home and put my memory card into, only to find that it was doing the. same. thing. ok, so it must be the memory card. the next day, i bought a new memory card while i was at the grocery store, but when i put it in my brand new camera, i got a memory card error message. so, new camera, new memory card...what the heck?!?

back to best buy that evening, and after a lot of testing and trying different things, we discovered, a) the camera i exchanged for a new one wasnt really broken after all. sorry best buy. :-/ b) the memory card was old and just flat worn out. c) the brand new memory card i bought on monday was a dud. so i just happened to have a string of things not working. i bought yet another memory card, returned the dud, and finally on monday evening had a working camera once again.

my friend melinda and i took all our kids (she has triplets that are colbys age) to a small town about an hour away to walk thru a recreation of the tabernacle they have set up at their church just for a week. its a hands-on interactive experience. super cool.

wednesday
molly came out of her room pretty shortly after bedtime and said she was having nightmares. i know for a fact she hadnt even fallen asleep yet, but i told her she could lay on the couch for 10 minutes, but if she wasnt asleep after that amount of time, she had to go back to her bed without complaint. wouldnt you know, she was out in less than that? :-) allen carried her back to her bed when he got home from church about an hour later.

thursday
i planned a surprise date for allen and i. an austin segway tour! we had so much fun!! neither of us had done it before. they were surprisingly easy to drive.

molly made a mess meal of mud pies.

im on homeschool curriculum overload. i'm trying to be proactive for next year, and start looking and reading reviews now, even ordering some stuff so we can work a little this summer. my brain is mush, but i feel good about where the Lord is taking me in my digging through websites and what not.
im giving myself a break for a few days, and heading to my moms tomorrow to celebrate mothers day with her, and my birthday(the 16th) as well. shes taking me shopping i think on monday and letting me pick out a couple of 'happys', and she calls them. :-) love her.

threesixfive, week 18

soooo......somethings wrong with my camera, and while i definitely took pictures every day this week, i unfortunately cant share all of them, because my camera ate them. gone.
for some reason a couple of them survived, and some of the people i was with who also took pictures emailed theirs to me, so im using some that i didnt take, but still apply.
grrrrr.
the good thing is my camera is under warranty, so guess what i'll be doing tomorrow!! hopefully getting it fixed. or getting it replaced.

sunday
we went for our first ever family bike ride!! colby did really well, and was much more confident and comfortable on a trail as opposed to the sidewalks in the neighborhood. allen did great, too, considering hes only about 2 and a half months past his surgery.

monday
my mom came into town for a couple of days. it was good to hang out with her as always.

tuesday
this is one of the pictures that got eaten. i took the kids roller skating.




wednesday
another picture got eaten, but it was really just another picture of the bikes. the kids and i did a few miles that afternoon.




thursday
our church staff and wives all went to dinner together as a "thank you" from the church. we went to a fairly new and super yummy place here in town. we ordered one of i think all the desserts and passed them all around the table, but somehow all the plates ended up in front of our worship pastor, so it looked like he was the one that ate them all. :-) i love the look on his wife's face.

friday
we had to go into austin to run an errand friday evening, so we grabbed dinner at freddie's place; a mostly outdoor restaurant with a playscape, and live music. it was a beautiful evening.

saturday
i was supposed to run the Color Run with a few other girls, but they all had to cancel for different reasons. the Frans Clan ran together. it was allen and the kids' first 5K, and we had so. much. fun.
we walked it except for a few spurts when molly and i ran, but we were still tired and very colorful at the end.

its been a great week of family together-ness. i love love love it.

threesixfive, week 17

sorry i'm getting this up late. i was leading worship our womens retreat this weekend, and although i did get home yesterday afternoon, i was wiped, hence the delay.

i know y'all (my fellow project 365ers) like bird pictures. :-) i dont know what this is, but its the prettiest bird i've seen around these parts, which is still just a relative statement; thats not to say that i think this bird is pretty, 'cause if i'm being honest, i dont. we get crows and sparrows; nothing as pretty as what most of you get. i figured i'd seize the opportunity.

monday
molly and colby each had a friend over, and a couple of the neighborhood girls joined molly and her friend ruth in the cul-de-sac. i loved seeing the group of girls playing together.

tuesday
tortilla soup for dinner. yum!

wednesday
apparently we have a cat. who likes peas.

 and also a baby with an extremely healthy appetite.

thursday
we took a day trip to my inlaws in houston to have first crack at the moving sale items they'll be selling in another week or so. molly passed the time riding her scooter up and down the driveway.

 molly lost her other middle tooth in the car on the way home. that sucker has been hanging on entirely too long. i dont think ive ever been as happy to see blood all over my kids face. :-)

friday
spent friday afternoon thru saturday afternoon prepping and leading worship at our church's womens retreat girlfriends getaway. it was my first time being 'the leader' and i really enjoyed it.

saturday
allen is still doing daily physical therapy exercises for his knee. the kids decided to join him saturday night.

i hope y'all have a fantastic week. we're supposed to get rain here for the next 3 or 4 days, but right now the weather is beautiful, so i'm about to slap on some sunscreen and go enjoy it!!!

threesixfive, week 16

holy cow! this week flew by. i dont know how it happened, but suddenly it was saturday again. i spent most of my week pulling weeds. ugh. i'd rather get them all up by hand than spray, though. i never know if spraying them is really going to work or not. pulling them up by their root, however, most definitely gets rid of them. it just takes way more time and effort.

once again, my phone pictures didn't load properly, so i substituted a picture for tuesday, and then i'm just missing a picture for wednesday, because i couldnt find a good substitute i wanted to use. ho hum.

the mosquitoes were eating me alive sunday evening!!! i had molly take a picture of my legs. i get horrible itchy whelps (sp?) when they first bite, but if i can leave them alone, they go away pretty quickly. they look awful though.

my friend april and i are leading worship at our churches womens retreat next weekend, and we've been meeting with vicki (the piano player) on tuesday evenings to go thru music.

we had our friends the meanings over for dinner. they have triplets that are colbys age. 2 boys and a girl. the kids had so much fun playing together. it was a houseful for sure!

friday
our soap dish doesnt want to seem to stay on the wall in the guest bathroom. i think because it makes a good foot rest for our female guests who shave their legs. :-/ so this time allen just put up two tiles, and i bought a bottle of body wash since theres nowhere for the soap to live. problem solved, hopefully.

saturday
i ran the diva dash with my friend jaclyn. its a 5k with obstacles. we came in just under 40 minutes. last year we did it in about 47 in think. next year the goal is 35.
it was cold!!! but fun!

i'll be gearing up for womens retreat this week, but other than that, it should be pretty 'normal'.

my parents and i (and the kids) drove to louisiana for my cousins wedding on sunday evening. here she is with her dad (my uncle scott) walking her down the aisle.

monday
we stayed the night at a friend of my uncle's, and this is her beautiful little back porch. it was the only picture i took monday; lot of road time.

tuesday
mom and dads dogs play fight all the time. it will keep us entertained for entirely too long.

wednesday
april is national poetry month! i pulled out my old shel silverstein books from when i was a kid, and we've had so much fun reading them this week!

thursday
i got a bike today!! allen wants to start riding to help rehabilitate his knee, so some friends of ours gave him a bike they had and werent using. colby and molly each have bikes now. but i didn't! so after no luck on craigslist or at goodwill, we made a trip to target thursday afternoon and i picked out this beauty. allen kind of makes fun of it for being an "old lady bike". it is very angela lansbury, murder she wrote...other than it being bright yellow. love it.

friday

my theatre class i teach at our homeschool co-op had their performance this weekend. friday night was dress rehearsal. the play is called Hovel, M.D.; Fairytale Doctor. its based loosely on the character from the t.v. show House, so hes very obnoxious and sarcastic. its hilarious. here are just a couple of my favorite shots.

you may see a couple characters you recognize; hansel and gretel, the gingerbread man, little red riding hood, the emperor with no clothes (except our wore boxers and an undershirt. family show.)
they did SUCH a great job, but i'm glad its done. sheesh.

i think i'm fighting off a stomach bug. i havent felt well since yesterday afternoon. i'm running a 5K on saturday. hopefully i'll shake it off by then.

my parents had to be at their church that morning, but the drove down sunday afternoon and spent the evening and next day here with us.

monday
mom and i took the kids to mt. bonnel in austin. its pretty much just a look out point that you have to walk a million stairs up to, but boy is it pretty.

tuesday
april showers bring may flowers. what about torrential downpours and high winds? what do those bring? i took this picture at about 4 o'clock in the afternoon. i went ahead and turned the porch light on, because it was quickly headed to being that dark.

wednesday
colby has taken over allens post-op recovery recliner. ugh. now both the men in my house have grown attached. i will not keep this thing in my house. :-/

thursday
my theatre class's performance is a week away. i'm getting costumes ready.

friday
one of my friends had a get together at her house and everyone was supposed to bring some of their favorite things. i stopped at chick-fil-a that afternoon and got a gallon of their sweet tea to take with me. yum!!

saturday
my hair is driving me crazy. growing it out is the pits. right now its just in my way but its not long enough to do anything useful with. i decided to try this cute little 'do today. i liked it, but no one i saw said anything about it, so i think everyone that knows me just thought it was weird. i'll rock it again, though, 'cause i liked it. it reminds me of '"we can do it!" rosie.'

getting this up early this weekend, because im about to head to dallas where my parents and i along with colby and molly will head to louisiana tomorrow for my cousins wedding. sunday evening. weird, right? but im SO glad i get to go!

next month our theme in kids' ministry is about friendship, so i was tasked with taking a bunch of pictures of "friends" over the last couple of sundays. heres a cute one i got of colby and some of his buddies in sunday school.

monday
ive been meaning to get some posters up in the school room all year, and i finally made it happen this week. i cant take pictures, but i can buy posters and staple them to my wall?!? sheesh.

tuesday
the kids and i met my mom and memaw and pawpaw (my moms parents) in waco at the childrens museum there. theres an old settlers village out back, and memaw showed the kids how to use....whatever this thing is. it squeezes excess water out of clothes. i think.

i took colby and molly for their yearly pictures in the bluebonnets. they were very cooperative, and i got some really good shots. here are a few.
(for those of you non-texans, the bluebonnet is our state flower and its tradition for a lot of families to take pictures in them at some point while they're blooming, which is about a 2 week window)
