threesixfive, week 39

i started the project that is my living room this week, and we just hung the final touch over the couch!! i'm SOOO happy with it, but you wont see a picture of that until next weeks 365 post, because technically it's todays picture. if a get a burst of blogging energy, i may post some pictures before then. we'll see. heres our week!

sunday
spaghetti squash; a new discovery for me. since i'm not eating carbs or starchy things, this is now what i eat instead of pasta. the fam doesnt care for it. at all. so they still get spaghetti/pasta/whatever, and i roast one of these babies.

monday
i had a meeting with the childrens pastor today to talk about some large group stuff for sunday, and by the time we left he, allen, zach (our media guy), and chris (the new worship pastor), as well as my children, were all throwing rubber high bounce balls at each other, or bouncing several at a time off the walls and watching them fly everywhere. i'm not sure they get any work done up there.....

tuesday
this is me and emily, one of my dearest friends. her birthday was this week, so a group of girls went out to celebrate on tuesday night.

wednesday
my mom came in town tuesday/wedensday and wanted to get the kids' halloween costumes. colby chose harry potter, and wore the glasses all day while casting various spells on complete strangers.

thursday
as you can see, i started painting. i realized at some point that all was quiet, and looked up to see both kids on their respective couches, reading. i love that they both like to read.

friday
it was crazy hat day at co-op. this is colbys go-to topper; the oh-so-fashionable lobster. that thing is so old, but i dont dare get rid of it. you never know when you might need a good lobster hat.

saturday
we had a family game night. we ordered pizza, ate it on the living room floor, and played game party 3 on the wii. sorry mollys a blur. she was playing some serious mini golf.

and thats our week. the kids' soccer games were cancelled for the second weekend in a row because of rain. they're wondering if theyre going to get to play at all. hopefully third weekend's a charm. or something like that.

be blessed!

threesixfive, week 38

another busy week, but whats new, right?
i'll let the pictures lay it out for me....

sunday
we got together with the barners and the lamberts to just hang out and visit; something we hardly ever get to do. we're trying to be more intentional about getting the families together all at the same time, and not just the husbands, or wives, or kids for playdates or whatever.

monday
this is my new curtain fabric! i've decided to give the living room just a teeny facelift. its been pretty much the same since we moved in 6 & 1/2 years ago.

tuesday
colby decided to sleep in his underwear and a pair of penguin socks. gotta love him.

wednesday
i decided late tuesday night to drive to houston wednesday morning and surprise my mother-in-law, but i wanted to stop in brenham and tour the blue bell factory on the way (something we've been wanting to do for years). i called my father-in-law and asked if he could meet us there (its only about a 45 minute drive from their house) without making a big deal about it to mom. she was super surprised and we had fun seeing how ice cream was made, and of course eating some at the end of the tour. :-)

thursday
my mother in law came back home with us thursday, so allen and i went out for dinner in austin to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary (it was yesterday, the 22nd).

one of the things to do in austin is see the bats come out from under the congress street bridge at dusk. we have a "bat bridge" in round rock, so we've seen our own version of it, but our bridge has about 600 bats, and the congress bridge supposedly houses over 1 million. they didnt come out until it was too dark to get a picture, but heres allen waiting patiently for them.

friday
this morning we found ourselves with an abandoned newborn rabbit in our backyard. we didnt want to mess with it in case it wasnt abandoned, but when we got home from co-op and it was in the exact same spot, cold and not moving much, i decided to take action. just call me the bunny rescuer!! i found a bunny rehabilitator (what?!?!) thru the austin area parks and wildlife website, and took the bunny to his house friday afternoon. i havent heard anything, and probably wont, but at least i did what i could.

saturday
it was national hunting day and there was an exhibit at a park near our house offering fishing, shooting, and some other activities, so we took the kids and spent a couple hours there. colby and molly both shot a gun for the first time. a BB gun, maybe? i guess i shouldve asked. colby did great, though! i asked him if he'd like to go hunting sometime seeing as he might be able to actually kill something and bring the meat home, and he said, "nah, i'd rather just get our meat from the grocery store."

the kids were supposed to have their first soccer games yesterday (thats why my mother in law came back with us), but they got cancelled because all the rain last week kind of threw everything off, as well as some of the teams not having their uniforms yet. so this weekend we'll go to their first soccer games. i'm excited. they havent played since they were, like 3 or 4, and that hardly counts, right?
my mom is coming for a couple days this week, and allen will be gone some so i'm hoping to use my late nights (i dont sleep well when he's gone) to paint the living room! i'll share pictures if i get it done!

be blessed!

threesixfive, week 37

we've had a mostly rainy, and much cooler week. its not near sweater weather, but its almost long sleeve shirt weather. of course, i think temperatures are supposed to creep back up again this week after the rain passes. sigh. fall will have to wait a bit i suppose.
lindsey left us this week, on friday. it was sad to see her go. she was such a blessing to have around and will be very missed!!

sunday
lindsey was playing her guitar, and i told the kids to leave her alone. i glanced down the hall and saw that colby had situated himself right outside her room where he wouldnt be a bother, but could still hear her playing and singing.

monday
i made this sausage frittata for dinner. i wondered about it being enough, so i roasted some mushrooms and asparagus as well. so. good. the frittata was fabulous. definitely a keeper.

tuesday
my parents came in town tuesday evening, so we could all go to lunch for my pawpaws 87th birthday on wednesday. i had called her that morning and asked her to bring all my beanie babies with her for the kids to play with (it had come up somehow last week, and they asked if i could get them). i went through them after the kids had gone to bed (and looked up the value of them!!) i had forgotten how many i had. some of them are actually worth some bucks!

wednesday
we went over to memaw and pawpaws house to visit and go to lunch together. pawpaw has dementia and isnt able to do a lot of things anymore. he was a very successful architect until he retired in the 90's, and while we were over there he wanted to show us some of the plans for some buildings he'd worked on a while back.

thursday
colby (accidentally) broke our microwave last week, so our friend brandon came over to help allen fix it. success!!!! and without even having to spend any money to do it!

friday
ok, so this is actually from thursday. sorry.
lindsey wanted to babysit for us one last time before she moved out. well, we certainly weren't going to say no to that! we tried a fairly new restaurant in north austin called zed's. it was delicious!! this is our appetizer; bang bang shrimp.

saturday
this is an empty container. until a few moments before i took this picture, i held 2 pounds of strawberries. then molly got her hands on it, and ate them. all. in one sitting.

like i said earlier, we've had a very soggy last few days. colby had his first soccer practice on tuesday (allen took him, so i didnt get pictures of that), and molly should have had hers friday, but it was rained out. i think its supposed to clear up tomorrow or tuesday, though, which will probaby make for a muggy, humid week. :-/ as long as our first soccer games dont get rained out out this weekend, we're good!! :-)

be blessed!

threesixfive, week 36

i literally just realized its sunday and i should post my pictures! this week totally got away from me!
normally i'd be at church right now, but i awoke to an extremely unhappy stomach at 1:30am, and it kept my up until about 4:30am. still feel crummy, but i'm hoping its a 24 hour bug, or something i ate, so it will pass quickly.
we got up early early last sunday and drove to my parents to surprise them at their 11:00 service. they knew we were coming for the labor day holiday, but werent expecting us until late afternoon. we totally  got them, and allen got to see their new church home for the first time!

sunday
mom and dad got a hot tub since their new yard is way to small for the above ground pool set up they had here. the kids loved it, but we had to keep reminding them "its not a pool! settle down!"

monday
we had a pretty relaxing day, and didnt do a whole lot. we dropped by a park before grabbing some lunch, and that was pretty much the extent of it. it was a really good visit, and my sweet grandma was there from mt pleasant for the weekend so we got to see her, too!

tuesday
my first pumpkin spice frap of the season!! its starting to feel like fall, y'all!

wednesday
this is a book by our new favorite author, chris van dusen. his books are great (they rhyme, a la dr seuss), but we actually check them out for he pictures. hes an amazing artist!! if you have little kids, or grandbabies, check him out! we get his stuff from the library.

thursday
this is something im trying to keep on hand for lunches during the week, because it so easy and so good!! ground pork, a can of diced tomatoes, a few tsp of chili powder and a dash of garlic salt. done. serve it over some lettuce with 'taco salad' type fixins (i just use black olives, more tomatoes, and a teeny bit of cheese).

friday
look how sweaty i am!! i just ran 4 miles!! and when i say run, i mean run/walk/run/walk.

saturday
we spent the day at the lake with a family from church (they have a camper they park out there for the summer), and wore ourselves out!
i dont know if any of you remember us getting a hypo-allergenic schnauzer puppy last year, and colby and i reacting to her and we had to get rid of her after only having her for a whopping 2 days, if that....
this is the family that she went to, and this is her!! we were going to name her roxy, but now shes zoe, which was a close second choice for us. anyway, so this is zoe!! shes gotten so big, and shes so sweet. the kids had fun playing with her off and on all day.

i hope you had a great week!! colby and molly have their first soccer practices this week; should be interesting!
be blessed!

rollin on the river

colby loves to dance. a lot. anywhere. anytime. especially when tina turner comes on while hes checking out the fishing lures at academy.

dont mind molly walking by towards the end...she had just gotten in trouble. :-/

threesixfive, week 35

another week of triple-digit heat. even though it was crazy hot this week, after i spoke just a couple weeks ago about it not being "that bad", i managed to partake in some, um, what do they call it? oh, yes, running. like, outside. seriously. i did a 5k in april, but running is not something i particularly enjoy. however, i would like to do a half marathon at some point in my life, so i suppose thats what im working towards. lindsey (the girl who's living with us) is training for a half with obstacles in october, so ive been getting out with her and running in the evenings, although usually im watching her run about 100 yards in front of me because i walk/run/walk/run. i'll get there eventually.

sunday
this is our new logo for the childrens ministry. a lady at our church embroidered shirts for allen and the childrens associate. they're pretty cool.

monday
i made this yummy summer beverage from a recipe lindsey saw on pinterest. i blended 3 cups of watermelon, a cup of coconut water, a squirt of lime, and some sprigs of fresh mint. it was delicious.

tuesday
we went to trailer tuesday!! every last tuesday of the month 10 food trailers/trucks (different ones each month) congregate on the lawn of an auditorium in downtown austin. it was so much fun, and we went with some friends who arent germaphobes, so we all got different stuff and took bites of each others. :-)

wednesday
ever since i started letting the kids stay up and read for a little bit before bedtime, this is what colbys floor has looked like. books everywhere!

thursday
lindsey plays the guitar and sings beautifully, so thursday allen asked her to play and sing for us. we sat around the living room and sang different worship songs for about half an hour. then she let the kids play her guitar. its been such a blessing to have her staying with us.

friday
i happened upon this ridiculously awesome neighborhood playscape a few weeks ago when i went to pick up something off of craigslist. i took the kids friday afternoon. they didnt last long since it was about 100 degrees outside, but we will definitely go back when it gets cooler.

saturday
i had to go get a new arm band for my iPod since ive been running like a crazy lady! i used to have one, but it sweated apart (thats really the best way to describe what happened to it) from me wearing it at the gym. ive been doing classes more than anything else for the last year or so, so i havent needed one. until now. i logged about 10 miles this week!!

tomorrow we're (all four of us!!!) going to see my parents for the holiday. allen hasnt been yet, so im excited for him to get to see dads new church, and the house and all that. my sweet grandma will be there, too, so we get a bonus visit with her!!
have a fun and safe labor day!!!
