threesixfive, week 35

i did really badly with my picture taking this week. i dont have one for sunday or saturday. i dont even remember what i did last sunday that i couldve taken a picture of.
heres the rest of the week though.....

monday
our passports came!!!! we're going on vacation to cancun next month and had to get passports for the kids, as well as renew allens. i was a little concerned that we had cut it too close, but they came in about 5 weeks!

tuesday
i got my essential oil order in the mail. this month i ordered a bottle of grapefruit. i've been putting a few drops in my water and drinking it. super yummy.

wednesday
im singing in church tomorrow, so i had practice wednesday night. the kids wear themselves out playing while i'm rehearsing, so they always sleep well on those nights.

thursday
one of our interns this summer got a teaching job and a house and decided to stay awhile. her birthday was thursday, so allen and the kids and i went to her school, found her car, and decorated it quite nicely for her.

friday
co-op starts next friday, so for one last "hurrah" before its officially the school year, we went to the zoo with some friends. it was hot, but fun.

...and no picture for saturday.

hope you have fun labor day plans! my parents and memaw are driving down from dallas tomorrow and staying until monday night. i'm so excited to see them!
link up below if you have pictures to share. hopefully you did better than me this week. :-/

ms kristens wedding!!

more than 20 pictures are in this post, so unless you love weddings and my kids you should probably leave now. :-) you've been warned.
i mentioned this in my P365 post yesterday, but one of the girls who came thru our youth group, and is  dear to our family, got married yesterday, and colby and molly were in the wedding.
kristen and her brother shayne, who is two years older and got married in january, have been part of our life for about ten years, but became significant when molly was born almost 7 years ago.
since mollys been born, shayne and kristen come over each year during christmas break, and pray over our kids; for their relationship with the Lord and each other, and for God's blessing on their life in the coming year. its a tradition we very much look forward to, and we were so honored when kristen asked colby and molly to be a ring bearer and flower girl in her wedding.

all that said, here are the pictures i took from the weekend....

THE REHEARSAL

the other "ring-bearer" was barely one, so colby pulled him down the aisle in a wagon, and then he was taken out into the hallway for the duration.

molly and the grooms little sister were the flower girls. kirsten is just a couple months older than molly, so they were fast friends.

the happy couple, jeremy and kristen. jeremy is a youth pastor, and his dad, whos a pastor, did the ceremony.

molly took everything very seriously and made sure she kept her eyes on the bride, belly button forward, etc. she followed all the rules.

and then theres colby.....

colby got to walk out with a girl on each arm.

at dinner we were able to sit with shayne and his precious wife kaysie. colby loves shayne-bo.

kristen made sure she came over and hugged the kiddos.

THE BIG DAY

waiting for their cue.

exchanging vows.

once again.....

man and wife!!!!

as they were taking pictures, shayne grabbed the kids and said, "hey will you get one of the four of us?" i was so glad he thought to do that!!!

my sweet kiddos all decked out.

CONGRATULATIONS JEREMY AND KRISTEN!!! WE LOVE YOU GUYS!!

threesixfive, week 34

first official week of school; check.
we had a great week, and accomplished everything i intended us to. i even got a couple of early morning workouts in, and we were all dressed and in the schoolroom by 9:00am. i was feeling pretty good about myself until friday morning, when i hit a proverbial wall. fortunately we wont normally do school on fridays once co-op starts in september, so i didnt feel bad about only doing math and grammar, then calling it a day.

heres our week...

sunday
im back teaching in the youth ministry this year; 9th and 10th grade girls. we had a 'social' after church sunday. we grabbed a quick lunch, then came back to the youth building to play games for a couple hours.

monday
in honor of the first day of school, heres allen on his first day of kindergarten. lookin' good.

tuesday
this week for history, we learned about the monks establishing christianity in britain, st augustine, the first pope, etc. so tuesday night, we made a "monk's supper." it was a suggested activity in my teachers book, so i used the recipe in there and did what it said. lentil soup, crusty bread, sliced cheese, and apples. it was actually really really good. we all had seconds.

wednesday
practicing for the wedding again. she looked beautiful, and this is ultimately what we ended up going with for the big day.

thursday (2 pics!)
i've been wanting a new light over the kitchen table for a while, so on a whim thursday, we went to ikea and bought one, and allen installed it. way to go, babe!!!

we had a couple of our young singles girls over for dinner thursday night, and they're both new to austin, so we took them down to gordoughs for dessert. always a good choice.

friday
heres me and my girl at the rehearsal dinner. friday and saturdays wedding festivities will get their own post because i took way too many pictures to just pick one or two. :-)

saturday
theres a sweet sweet couple in our church, barry and darlene, that pray for us daily, and check up on us regularly to just see how we're doing and if theres anything they can do for us, etc.
darlene called me this week and asked if they could bring us a crepe myrtle for our yard and plant it in honor of my pawpaw, since it will be in bloom every august; the month that he died. i told her that was perfect, and that crepe myrtles were one of his favorite trees. every house they ever lived in he would plant crepe myrtles, and i remember picking the little green blooms off as a little girl and squeezing the flower out.
anyway, so they came this morning and had not only a tree, but a shrub too!! they helped us pick the perfect spot, and dig the holes, told us how often to water, how to prune them back. we talked about pawpaw and prayed. it was a sweet time and such a precious gesture on their part.

the shrub and tree they brought over

colby and molly helping barry fill the hole in

i love the tree in this spot; right in front of the window

as i said, the wedding and rehearsal will get its own post, probably tomorrow sometime. for those of you that have been around here for awhile, and are familiar with the brother and sister couple (shayne and kristen) that come and pray for colby and molly each year around christmas, it was kristens wedding. she was of course beautiful and colby and molly did great as the ring bearer and flower girl.
i took so. many. pictures. come back and see!!

link up below if you have pictures to share.
have a great week!!!!

threesixfive, week 33

hi everyone. it was a whirlwind of a week. i got a call sunday morning during church that my pawpaw had gone to be with Jesus. at first i was planning on waiting until i got word when the funeral would be, and i'd go up the day before, but when something of this nature happens, i want to be with my family. allen worked out details to get the kids taken care of with his mom and aunt in waco, so i was able to leave sunday evening and head to dallas.
i was able to have a good few days with mom and dad and memaw, and allen came tuesday afternoon so he could be there for the viewing that night, and have some time to visit with all of us and prepare to do the service the next day, at memaws request. he did a wonderful job.

sunday
i didnt get a picture sunday with eveything that was going on.

monday
of course we spent a lot of time looking thru photo albums and scrapbooks to find pictures of pawpaw to use on the memory table at the service. i love this one of him in his navy uniform. he was in the naval air force in WWII.

tuesday
mom and i went up this morning and set up the table with pictures, albums, certificates, and drawings from pawpaws life. he was an architect for 40+ years in dallas, and most of the buildings you see in the dallas skyline were designed by him.

we all really like this one of him at the office way back when. hes in the white shirt with glasses.

the service was wednesday morning at mom and dads church. allen did the service. great job, babe!

the color guard folded the flag that was on his coffin, and presented it to memaw; a very cool moment.

thursday
after a long few days, we spent most of thursday in our "comfies." colby rediscovered these bug block things as i was cleaning out his closet. they're real bugs. well, real dead. they're cool....but kind of creepy.

friday
knowing that we're jumping head first into school next week, i took them to the pool friday afternoon. my mom sent this swimsuit home with me for molly. she bought it to keep at her house but molly never wore it. so here it is, middle of august, and shes wearing it for the first time.

saturday
allen and i were invited by the minor league team here that he chaplains for, to a dinner fundraiser for our local serving center. it was a safari them. do we fit the part??

thanks for your thoughts and prayers over the last couple of weeks as i've shared news of my pawpaw.
he was an amazing man and will be greatly missed, but i have peace in knowing that he is with our Heavenly Father and i will see him again someday.

i hope you have a blessed week!!!
link up if you have pictures!

threesixfive, week 32

for some reason its a molly-heavy week. she managed to make just about every picture, and colby only made a couple. not intentional, but thats how it worked out.
on a side note, for those of you that have asked about my pawpaw, he was put in hospice yesterday, so his time here is coming to a close. i was up there with the kids the first part of this week so that dad could take the kids to a water park up there, so i was able to go up to the nursing home and see him a few times. he hasnt been eating well since he came out of the anesthesia following his hip surgery. he was taken up to the hospital mid-week to have a feeding tube put in, but they werent able to because once they got him there, they found out he has pneumonia. so hes not taking in any kind of nutrition at all, and his body isnt strong enough to fight off the infection. thursday night his kidneys started shutting down, so he was moved to hospice care yesterday afternoon. your prayers are appreciated. we hate to see him go thru this, although i guess thankfully, because of the dementia, he doesnt really know or understand any of it anyway, and he isnt in any pain. he'll be with Jesus soon.
***UPDATE*** pawpaw passed away this morning (sunday aug. 11th) at about 10:20am.

heres my week...

sunday
300 churches in and around austin will be doing neighborhood discussion groups and church sermons based on common questions believers and non-believers alike ask. things like, "why does God allow pain? is the Bible reliable?" will be discussed all over the city for seven weeks starting in september. there are already commercials, newspaper ads, and billboards, and training groups have been meeting for the last few weeks. praying for God to really move in the hearts of His people and our city.

monday
we were up at my parents house. colby and molly took some wildflower seed balls they had made, and helped papaw plant them in the front yard.

tuesday
i should probably be annoyed/concerned that there are so many stinkin rabbits around my house, but i never get tired of seeing these little guys.

wednesday
colby and molly will be in a wedding on the 24th, and i need to figure out how i'm going to do mollys hair. wednesday i curled it and pulled a little back to see what we though. i thought it looked very pretty, but she didnt like it. :-/

thursday
we're studying the ancient celts, so as part of our history the kids each made a signum. when the celtic clans would march into battle, one of the warriors would carry a signup, which was essentially their tribes flag, only instead of a flag theyd put medallions and things like that on it.
they really had fun with it.

friday
we had the menning triplets over friday night for a sleepover. hannah and molly pretty much stayed locked away in her room playing. the boys were all. over. the house.

saturday
some friends invited us over for a back to school party complete with water balloons. i thought this was a cute picture of molly (far right) and her friends avery and layna. they were watching the boys fill the water balloons up right outside that window.

i was going to start school full force next week, but with things being so touch and go with pawpaw, i'll probably wait another week or two. ah, the beauty of homeschooling.
have a great week!!
